Charleston

South Carolina

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

The historic area of Charleston is filled with Southern charm, shopping areas, restaurants, beautiful homes, historic buildings, and other attractions. As one who doesn't normally like to visit cities, I find Charleston a wonderful exception. Tour buses are readily available at the Vistors Center, but I like just walking everywhere in this fabulous area. There's something new and exciting around nearly every corner.

One can also take a ferry to historic Fort Sumter National Monument, or cross the bridge to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. Many gardens and plantations can be visited in the area, with all providing great photo opportunites. Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge is a short distance to the northeast, and popular Myrtle Beach a bit further.

All of the historic area of Charleston is very photogenic, but I'd say that Waterfront Park and the area near it were my favorite for photography.
