Just A Few
Nikon/Nikkor Lenses

This site is primarily focused (no pun intended) on manual focus Konica and Nikon SLRs. However, when we get into Nikon which, unlike Konica, still produces single lens reflex cameras, we have to touch on the field of auto-focus as well as manual-focus lenses.

The reason for this is that older Nikon Nikkor manual-focus lenses work on most of the new auto-focus camera bodies; and the new auto-focus lenses can also be used with most manual Nikon camera bodies.

This page is here simply to mention a few Nikon Nikkor lenses for consideration that would make up a good Nikon SLR system to suit your needs. There is no way I can go into all of the Nikon lenses produced or are available, even if I wanted to. And there are many books available if one wants to pursue the subject further. However, most focal lengths are listed.

A good Nikon SLR system for most amateur, or even serious, photographers would include a wide-angle lens, normal lens, a telephoto or two and a couple of zoom lenses. The following links are lenses to be considered for the average and serious Nikon photographer. And since most people will be using AI, AIS, Series E or AF lenses only those are mentioned, not the older type lenses. I will also stay away from ultra-wideangle, and most super telephoto and super zoom lenses, since these are of a specialized and primarily professional nature. All lenses mentioned can be purchased new or fairly easily found in the used market place, unless otherwise noted.

I am not a snob believing that only Nikon lenses are always best for Nikon Cameras. Click Here for a listing of certain third-party/off-brand lenses.
