Unless Nikon does decide to come out with an F7 that has this ability, the F5 is the last of the Flagship Series film cameras to use interchangeable finders. For the F5, four finders are available: DP-30, DA-30, DW-30, and DW-31. The DP-30 is the standard prism for the F5. All provide virtually 100% frame coverage.

The DP-30 is a High-eyepoint type finder, with Matrix, center-weighted, and spot metering. The DP-30 also has a built-in diopter adjustment from -3 to +1 diopters, and an accessory hot shoe on top. Metering system selector is at the side of the prism. |

The DA-30 is the AE Action Finder, High -eyepoint type. 3-D Color Matrix metering is not available with this finder. This is a large finder for when normal viewing is difficult, such as wearing a helmet or goggles, or when the camera is encased in an underwater housing unit. The DA-30 is the most expensive finder for the F5. |

The DW-30 is a Waist-Level finder, for viewing from above. Also good for copy stand work. The center of the image is magnified five times for accurate focusing, but the image is inverted. Only Spot metering is available with this finder. This is the less expensive of the finders available for the F5. |

The DW-31 is a 6X High-Magnification Finder, for High-Magnification close-up work, photomicrography, or for scientific and medical applications. It's also fitted with a -5 to +3 diopter adjustment for eyesight correction. |
Finder Attachments
DG-2 Eyepiece Magnifier: Allows users to view a magnified image of the center of the camera's viewfinder. The F5 also needs the DK-7 Eyepiece Adapter Ring to use the DG-2.
DK-2 Eyecup: Rubber eyecup prevents stray light from entering the viewfinder from the rear, and allows eyeglass wearers protection from scratching. Requires DK-7 adapter.
DK-7 Eyepiece Thread Adapter: In the case of the F5, the DK-7 is needed for the above DG-2 Eyepiece Magnifier, or for the discontinued DR-3 Right Angle Viewfinder.
DK-12 Eyepiece Thread Adapter: Comes with the DR-4 Right Angle Viewfinder.
DK-14 Antifog Eyepiece: Has a transparent plastic plate with special surface coating for reducing fogging on the eyepiece.
DR-4 Right Angle Viewfinder Attachment: Replaced the DR-3 Right Angle Finder. Comes with DK-12 adapter.
DR-15 Right Angle Viewfinder Attachment: Provides an upright and un-reversed image for right-angle viewing.
