Dinosaurland Trip:
August 2006

This was to be an exciting trip in that everywhere I planned to go would be new to me, and in areas that I most enjoyed for photography. By Dinosaurland, I'm referring to Dinosaur National Monument and the area around it in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.

Planned primary locations were Pawnee National Grassland, Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, Dinosuar National Monument, Fantasy Canyon, Flaming Gorge, plus other scenic byways in the area. Below is how it went.

August 15, 2006: I only had three weeks or so to plan for this trip, but it was still revised several times before being set. Most of my packing has been done, but still need to buy food and drink, and some batteries today. My plan is to leave in mid-afternoon tomorrow, drive all night so I can be at the Pawnee National Grassland and the Pawnee Buttes in Colorado for sunrise. Therefore, I need to stay up until early morning, and then hopefully sleep until noon or later tomorrow before leaving. Having a possible problem with my truck, and with gas prices so high, I'll be taking my wife's car on the trip - meaning I have to be back no later than 6PM on the 25th.
