The Olympus C-5050 is what I chose as my second digital camera.

The primary reasons I chose the Olympus C-5050 over others considered is its bright f/1.8 lens, its 5-Megapixel CCD, a good set of accessories, very good reviews, and it was within the price frame I was considering ($500-$650). I purchased it online from B&H, in July 2003 for $629.95 plus $49.95 for a 5-year extended warranty, for a total price of $679.90 before shipping costs.

In the April 2003 issue of Popular Photography & Imaging, author Michael J. McNamara says, "This stylish camera is packed with far more bells and whistles than any film-based point-and-shoot, and it introduces several new features not found on any other camera." Toward the end of the article, McNamara goes on to say, "...color accuracy is excellent, and not only the best we've tested on a 5MP camera, but the best we found in any digital camera (including D-SLRs and EVF models such as the Olympus E-20n, Nikon CoolPix 5700, and Minolta DiMAGE 7Hi."
