Digital Darkrooms |
Digital Darkrooms are those sophisticated programs which will not only do the basics of correcting or improving images, but which can also be used to change them in a way in which they should have been taken in-camera in the first place, or to manipulate them into something completely different or unrealistic. I'm sure you can see that I'm not in favor of such programs. But I'm aware that many are.
We're all different, and some don't mind and even like spending hours manipulating their pictures, while there are others of us who would rather spend our time at other things, like going out and taking pictures, for instance.
The most popular of these, at least of this writing, is Photo Shop and its variations. Newer versions of Paint Shop Pro are similar. Improvement to them, at least it seems so to me, is to make things more difficult and complicated. That's why I prefer my old version 4 of Paint Shop Pro compared to newer versions.
However, these are popular programs, and perhaps even essential tools for professionals. If you're a professional, take bad pictures, or want to say put the head of a woman on the body of a giraffe, then it's one of these type programs that you will probably prefer.
