In early 2004, the D70 exploded on the photographic scene as Nikon's first under $1000 digital SLR. A year later the improved D70s was released. The "kit" lens for both the D70 and D70s was the Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom pictured above. This lens if purchased as a kit with the D70/D70s added about $300 to the price.
